Lan Huan (蓝涣, Lán Huàn), courtesy name Lan Xichen (蓝曦臣, Lán Xīchén) is the current leader of the Gusu Lan Clan. He is also known by his title Zewu-Jun (泽芜君, Zéwú-jūn). He is the older son of Qingheng-Jun and Madam Lan, and the paternal nephew of Lan Qiren.
Given that he is still a junior at the start of the Sunshot Campaign, Lan Xichen is less than three years older than his younger brother Lan Wangji.[1] Together, the two of them are known as the Twin Jades of Lan.[2]
Appearance[]
Tall and slender, Lan Xichen bears a strong resemblance to his younger brother. There are two major differences between them: first, that Lan Xichen's eyes are gentler and darker than Lan Wangji's, and second, that Lan Xichen's face usually bears a smile, while Lan Wangji remains stoic. As a result, Lan Xichen ranked as the most handsome young master in the cultivation world, and Lan Wangji was ranked second.[2]
He wears the white robes and hair ribbon of the Gusu Lan Clan, with Liebing and Shuoyue hanging at his waist.[2]
Personality[]
Lan Xichen has a kind and gentle personality. He tends to wear a smile on his face, and is polite to everyone he meets.[2] In contrast to many in their cultivation society, Lan Xichen treats everyone with the same courtesy regardless of status. For instance, he gladly accepts the tea Jin Guangyao offers him when others refuse to accept anything from the son of a prostitute.[3]
Slow to anger, Lan Xichen is only provoked if the situation involves someone he loved, such as when he becomes angry at the thought that Wei Wuxian has deliberately mocked Lan Wangji's feelings.[4]
He likewise tends to believe the best in others, to the extent that he admits he does not wish to learn why his mother had killed someone,[5] and, despite losing trust in his younger sworn brother, insists on listening to Jin Guangyao's reasons.[6] Overall, he seems to believe that most people act with good intentions despite their actions.[7]
Trivia[]
- As part of the Lan family genetics, Lan Xichen also becomes drunk with merely one cup of wine. According to the author, when Lan Xichen gets drunk, he becomes so excited that every sentence he speaks ends with three exclamation marks.[8]
